Oil-based Clay
- Basic Sculpture Tool Kit for ceramic and/or oil-based clay
- 9″x12″ sketchbook or larger
- Pencil or pen
- Eraser
- One sheet of tracing paper (usually in a pad)
- 2 to 10 pounds of oil-based clay (depending on your project)
- X-acto knife
- Pictures of project(s) to reproduce or that may inspire your own project(s)
- Proper armature for your project (will be discussed on day one of class, below items are just some possible materials)
- One roll of aluminum foil
- One pound (or more) of art wax (found on Art Store sales floor)
- Various plumbing supplies (usually purchased with instructor after initial design is completed)
- Melamine shelf material suitable for your project
- Armature WireEstimated costs of all above materials are $120.00 or less.

- 24”x36”(strongly recommended) or 18”x24” newsprint pad (50 sheet min.)
- Drawing board (lightweight masonite) needs to fit the pad –some boards are available in the studio space.
- Graphite pencils HB, 2B, 4B, 6B (household pencil is a HB)
- Willow charcoal (2 to 3 sticks of same or different hardnesses)
- Vine charcoal (jumbo grumbacher or comparable)
- Charcoal pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)
- White charcoal pencil
- Kneaded eraser (medium or larger)
- Blending stumps (all the same size or various sizes)
- Sketch Pad 9 X 12
- 1″ masking tape
